Some time in the 1980’s the flaming chalice, the central symbol of Unitarian Universalism, ceased being merely a logo, jumped off the printed page and began to appear as a literal chalice, being lit at the beginning of Sunday worship. How does a symbol make the leap to three dimensions? What does it mean to us today?
