The Unitarian Church of Staten Island received a mountain of clothes after Sandy. Christ Church and Castleton Moravian Church graciously received many of those clothes and stored them. Pastor Lynnette Delbridge is asking for volunteers in next week’s major clothing sort, particularly from Friday to Sunday. Could you help? If so, please call Pastor Lynnette Delbridge at the number below: “Volunteer Opportunity, 12/3-12/9. Are you saddened by pictures of our neighbors rumbling through piles of clothing bags trying to find something to wear that fits?
Help those affected by Hurricane Sandy to find the clothing they need. Take part in a major clothing sort sponsored by the Staten Island Moravian Churches. Donated clothing will be sorted first by size and gender and then neatly folded and boxed by type in preparation for a free and public clothing distribution sometime in January. The Sort will take place at Castleton Hill Moravian Church, 1657 Victory Blvd. in the church fellowship hall. The entrance into the fellowship hall is off the side street, Hodges Place. Volunteers are welcome Monday, Dec. 3rd through Saturday, Dec. 8th from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. each day and on Sunday, Dec. 9th from 2:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Food will be available so volunteers coming to or from work need not be hungry. While it is helpful to let the church office know when you plan to come and volunteer, drop-in volunteers are of course welcome. The church telephone number is 718-442-5215.
